Sweet Autumn Clematis makes a fine choice for the outdoor landscape, but it is also well-suited for use in outdoor pots and containers. This species is not originally from North America. Consider applying a thick mulch around the root zone over the growing season to conserve soil moisture. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. This woody vine does best in full sun to partial shade. The price is quite reasonable and the soil in KY is very rich, so I expect to see flowers in bloom within two seasons from planting. The plant arrived quite healthy and green no missing leaves and just needed a drink of water before planting. I love vining plants too and this one is going to be just as beautiful one day as the older mature vine was/is. I had one of these lovelies on our past location and after owning one I missed not having it established on our present residence. Feed once a month with a well balanced fertilizer during the growing season. Mulch well with composted manure or compost. Clematis does best in fertile, humus rich, well-drained soil.
